The Chemistry of Life Processes Institute will host their third annual Biotech by the Lake Investor Summit on June 22, 2021. The theme of this year’s summit is Targeting Neurological Disorders. The online program will feature 17 academic, investment, and industry experts.  Panel discussions will highlight the current trends and investment opportunities in neuroscience therapies and technologies.

There will be several Northwestern faculty members presenting their next-generation therapies and approaches to ALS, Alzheimer’s, and other neurological disorders.

Dr. Neil L. Kelleher, the Charles E. and Emma H. Morrison Professor of Chemistry and Professor of Molecular Biosciences and Interim Director for the Chemistry of Life Processes Institute, will offer the welcome and introduction to the presentations.

Dr. William Klein, professor in the Department of Neurobiology, will present on the “Next Generation Vaccines Targeting the Cause of Alzheimer’s Disease.”

Dr. Yevgenia Kozorovitskiy, the Soretta and Henry Shapiro Research Professor of Molecular Biology and professor in the Department of Neurobiology, will present on “High Precision Screens for Pharmacological Traction of Neuroplasticity.”

Dr. Richard B. Silverman, the Patrick G. Ryan/Aon Professor in the Departments of Chemistry and Molecular Biosciences, will present on “Upper Motor Neuron Diseases and Alzheimer’s: Serious Diseases Addressed in the Silverman Group.”

In addition to the Northwestern faculty presentations, the heads of neuroscience at Genentech and Merck will give corporate presentations and several experts from the biotech industry and investment community will participate in panel discussions.
