Paul Larson, MD, a Northwestern alumn of the class of 1978, was one of three physicians named a 2021 Gold Medal honoree by the American College of Radiology.
The Board of Chancellors at the College awards the ACR Gold Medal to “an individual for distinguished and extraordinary service to the American College of Radiology or to the discipline of radiology,” according to their website. Larson first began working with the College as a member of the Human Resources Commission in 1991, and he has held more than 40 positions, including vice president.
According to the College, Larson’s colleagues describe him as a “true luminary, an icon, and an ambassador for radiology — an individual who has worked tirelessly over 33 years to improve the specialty, its practitioners, and its patients.”
Larson graduated from Northwestern University and the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, and he completed his residency training at Saint Vincent’s Hospital in Worcester, Massachusetts followed by a fellowship in IR at Medical College of Wisconsin. He spent his professional career in private practice with Radiology Associates of Fox Valley in Wisconsin, where he is still one of the state’s most well-known radiologists.
