Professor Claire Sufrin’s book, The New Jewish Canon: Ideas and Debates 1980-2015, named as finalist for National Jewish Book Award

Professor Claire Sufrin, of Weinberg’s Department of Religious Studies, has been named a finalist for the National Jewish Book Award in the category of Modern Jewish Thought and Experience.
Her book, “The New Jewish Canon: Ideas and Debates 1980-2015,” roadmaps the changing of Jewish life throughout the 20th Century. Sufrin displays her extensive knowledge of Jewish life throughout her book, which Yehuda Kurtzer helped edit.
Sufrin is an active member of the Northwestern Jewish community in her teachings, research, and free time. She is Assistant Director of Jewish Studies at the Crown Family Center for Jewish and Israel Studies and teaches courses in modern Christianity and modern Judaism.
