Two postdoctoral fellows named 2021 Cottrell Scholars

Two Northwestern postdoctoral fellows, Anna Yang and Luke Kelley, have been named 2021 Cottrell Scholars by the Research Corporation for Science Advancement. Cottrell Fellowships aim to support the careers of early-career scientists who were losing opportunities to move into independent academic careers due to pandemic-related hiring freezes.

RCSA awarded nearly $1 million to 14 Cottrell Scholars this year, and three of these awards were funded through a $225,000 grant from the National Science Foundation.

Funded by the National Science Foundation”I am extremely grateful to the Research Corporation for Science Advancement, and honored by the opportunity to continue working with the incredible scientists at CIERA and Northwestern,” said Kelley. “I’m excited to continue my work on understanding the sources of low-frequency gravitational waves: binaries of supermassive black holes, which we expect to be detected within the next few years.”
