Ben Frommer will be assisting in the development of two museums abroad: the MEHRIN Moravian Jewish Museum in Brno, and a new Jewish museum in Prague.
Frommer was appointed to the International Advisory Board of the project to establish a Moravian Jewish Museum in Brno. According to their website, the museum will “present the history of the Jewish presence in Moravia, including the tragic events of the Holocaust and the subsequent silence of the communist era, by making the authentic life stories of Moravian Jews accessible to the public using 21st century technology.”
The latter project is part of an initiative by the Czech Republic’s Ministry of Culture to develop a new museum in the Prague railway station. The focus will be Jewish deportation, intentionally located in a train station from which Jews were deported.
Frommer is an Associate Professor of History at Northwestern in the field of Modern European History. Frommer is also affiliated with Northwestern’s Department of German, Department of Slavic Languages, and Program in Jewish and Israel Studies.
