Professor Bryna Kra Has Been Named a 2023 Fellow of the Association for Women in Mathematics

Bryna Kra, the Sarah Rebecca Roland Professor of Mathematics at Northwestern University, was named a 2023 Association for Women in Mathematics Fellow “For her vision and work creating programs to support women in mathematics, especially GROW (Graduate Research Opportunities for Women) and AWM student chapters; for her leadership in the mathematics community, including serving on the AWM Executive Committee and serving as president of AMS; and for making advocacy for women a priority throughout her career.

According to the Association for Women in Mathematics website, the 2023 AWM Fellows are recognized “for their exceptional dedication to increasing the success and visibility of women in mathematics.” 

Bryna Kra works in ergodic theory and dynamical systems, particularly on problems motivated by combinatorics and number theory.

Kra has also been named the Sarah Rebecca Roland Professor of Mathematics at Northwestern University, a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences (2016), a Fellow of the American Mathematical Society (2012), and winner of the Levi L. Conant Prize of the American Mathematical Society (2010).
