Professor Omar Farha has received the inaugural AAAFM-Stoddart Award from the American Association for Advances in Functional Materials (AAAFM).

Farha is the Dow Chemical Company Professor in the Department of Chemistry, a member of the International Institute of Nanotechnology (IIN), and an associate editor of ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces. He received the award for “his seminal contributions to the field of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs),” accelerating their potential for applications that could help reduce energy consumption, protect human health, and counter climate change.

Named for Northwestern professor and Nobel Laureate Sir Fraser Stoddart, the award recognizes two dynamic young researchers for their outstanding achievements and contributions to the field of functional materials. Mark C. Hersam of the  McCormick School of Engineering has received the other inaugural AAAFM-Stoddart Award award.
